FAQ
Yes. Polish uses the macOS Accessibility API to read and write text in any app that supports text selection, Chrome, Safari, Mail, Messages, Notion, Slack, VS Code, Terminal, and hundreds more. No extension, no plugin, no setup.
Only if you choose API mode. In Local mode, everything runs on your device, zero bytes leave your Mac. In API mode, text goes directly from your Mac to the AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI…) with no Polish server in between.
Local mode runs open-source models (Mistral, Llama, etc.) on-device, fully offline, no cost per use. API mode connects directly to frontier models like Claude or GPT-4 for higher-quality output. You can switch per action.
Translate from and to 50+ languages including French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Portuguese, Italian, and more. Fix and Rewrite work in any language the underlying model supports, which is most of them.
